Baron Herzog Speical Reserve Generation Viii Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 Sku: 041804
For eight generations, the Herzog family has produced exceptional wines. Generation VIII by Herzog is a reflection of, and tribute to, over 250 years of winemaking. The Herzog family felt obligated to make this special wine at its recently completed winery located in California’s southern Central Coast region. The extraordinary quality of Generation VIII by Herzog is achieved by Herzog Wine Cellars being as technologically advanced today as the original European family winery was in its day.
Produced in very limited quantities using Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that were grown in Chalk Hill’s Warnecke vineyard and in Napa Valley, it was then aged for 32 months in French oak barrels. While many wine consumers are unaware of the wide variance of character between barrels of a single lot of wine, the Herzogs were keen enough to observe this phenomenon long ago. Using this knowledge, they separated a few outstanding barrels within each of two wine lots and blended them to create Generation VIII by Herzog. This is not only an amazing wine -- it's a piece of history. Style and Description This exceptional wine exhibits plum, cranberry, chocolate, coffee, light toast and vanilla flavors. Aging This wine can be cellared for 8-10 years.
