Petite Sirah is easy to handle as a blending component, but presents many challenges when it is the primary varietal. The Dalton's winemakers succeeded admirably with making this Dalton Estate Petite Sirah 2010. The wine is a dark, serious wine with a unique profile featuring olive, lavender and vanilla. A powerful structure of tannic calls makes this wine excellent for pairing with burgers, soft cheeses, or simply high-quality bread and butter. The wine is velvety on the palate, with soft tannins and a long finish.
|Dark violet-red in color, this wine has aromas of black cherry, lavender and confectioner’s sugar. Cool and bright notes play off each other, with flavors of ripe black cherry, anisette, cranberry and sage.
Soft tannins lead to a finish that is long-lasting but doesn’t overstay its welcome.
